Он не низок, не высок, не высок.
Бежит мимо мышка-норушка.
Увидела теремок, остановилась и спрашивает:
«Терем-теремок! Кто в тереме живёт? Кто-кто в невысоком живёт?»
Никто не отвечает. Вошла мышка в теремок и стала в нём жить.
Прискакала к терему лягушка-квакушка и спрашивает:
«Терем-теремок! Кто в тереме живёт?»
«Я, мышка-норушка. А ты кто?»
«А я лягушка-квакушка!»
«Иди ко мне жить!»
Лягушка прыгнула в теремок. Стали они вдвоём жить.
Бежит мимо зайчик-побегайчик. Остановился и спрашивает:
«Терем-теремок! Кто в тереме живёт?»
«Я, мышка-норушка! Я, лягушка-квакушка! А ты кто?»
«А я зайчик-побегайчик!»
«Иди к нам жить!»
Заяц – скок в теремок. Стали они втроём жить.
Идёт лисичка-сестричка. Постучала окошко и спрашивает:
«Терем-теремок! Кто в тереме живёт?»
«Я, мышка-норушка!»
«Я, лягушка-квакушка!»
«Я, зайчик-побегайчик! А ты кто?»
«А я лисичка-сестричка!»
«Иди к нам жить!»
Забралась лисичка в теремок. Стали они вчетвером жить.
Прибежал волчок-серый бочок. Заглянул в дверь и спрашивает:
«Терем-теремок! Кто в тереме живёт?»
«Я, мышка-норушка!»
«Я, лягушка-квакушка!»
«Я, зайчик-побегайчик!»
«Я, лисичка-сестричка! А ты кто?»
«А я волчок-серый бочок!»
«Иди к нам жить!»
Волк влез в теремок. Стали они впятером жить.
Вот они всё в теремке живут, песни поют.
Вдруг идёт мимо медведь косолапый.
Увидел медведь теремок, услышал песни, остановился и заревел во всю мочь:
«Терем-теремок! Кто в тереме живёт?»
«Я, мышка-норушка!»
«Я, лягушка-квакушка!»
«Я, зайчик-побегайчик!»
«Я, лисичка-сестричка!»
«Я, волчок-серый бочок! А ты кто?»
«А я медведь косолапый!»
«Иди к нам жить!»
Медведь полез в теремок. Лез, лез, лез, лез – никак не мог влезть и говорит:
«Я лучше у вас на крыше буду жить».
«Да ты нас раздавишь!»
«Нет, не раздавлю!»
«Ну, так влезай!»
Влез медведь на крышу и только уселся – трах-тарарах! – раздавил теремок.
Затрещал теремок, упал набок и весь развалился.
Еле-еле успели из него выскочить мышка-норушка, лисичка-сестричка, волчок-серый бочок.
Все целы и невредимы.
Принялись они брёвна носить, доски пилить, новый теремок строить.
Лучше прежнего выстроили и стали они жить-поживать – вместе. In the middle of a field stands a little house—a *teremok*.

She spots the little house, stops, and asks:
"Little house, little house! Who lives in this house? Who—who lives in this little dwelling?"
No one answers. The mouse enters the little house and settles in to live there.
Along hops a little frog, a croaker. She asks:
"Little house, little house! Who lives in this house?"
"It is I, the little mouse, the burrow-dweller! And who are you?"
"I am the little frog, the croaker!"
"Come and live with me!"
The frog hops into the little house. Now the two of them live there together.
Along comes a little hare, a speedy runner. He stops and asks:
"Little house, little house! Who lives in this house?"
"It is I, the little mouse, the burrow-dweller! It is I, the little frog, the croaker! And who are you?"
"I am the little hare, the speedy runner!"
"Come and live with us!"
The hare gives a hop and jumps into the little house. Now the three of them live there together.
Along comes a little fox—Sister Fox. She taps on the window and asks:
"Little house, little house! Who lives in this house?"
"It is I, the little mouse, the burrow-dweller!"
"It is I, the little frog, the croaker!"
"It is I, the little hare, the speedy runner! And who are you?"
"I am the little fox—Sister Fox!"
"Come and live with us!"
The little fox climbs into the little house. Now the four of them live there together.
Along comes a little wolf—Grey-Side. He peeks through the door and asks:
"Little house, little house! Who lives in this house?"
"It is I, the little mouse, the burrow-dweller!" "I am the Little Mouse-Noruska!"
"I am the Little Frog-Kvakushka!"
"I am the Little Hare-Pobegaychik!"
"I am the Little Fox-Sister! And who are you?"
"And I am the Little Wolf-Grey-Side!"
"Come and live with us!"
The Wolf climbed into the little house. Now there were five of them living together.
And so they lived on in the little house, singing songs.
Suddenly, the clumsy-footed Bear came walking by.
The Bear saw the little house, heard the songs, stopped, and roared with all his might:
"Little house, little house! Who lives in this little house?"
"I am the Little Mouse-Noruska!"
"I am the Little Frog-Kvakushka!"
"I am the Little Hare-Pobegaychik!"
"I am the Little Fox-Sister!"
"I am the Little Wolf-Grey-Side! And who are you?"
"And I am the clumsy-footed Bear!"
"Come and live with us!"
The Bear started climbing into the little house. He climbed and climbed—but he simply couldn't squeeze inside—so he said:
"I'd rather live on your roof instead."
"But you'll crush us!"
"No, I won't!"
"Well, then climb up!"
The Bear climbed onto the roof, and just as he sat down—CRASH!—he crushed the little house.
The little house creaked and groaned, tipped onto its side, and fell completely to pieces.
The Little Mouse-Noruska, the Little Fox-Sister, and the Little Wolf-Grey-Side barely managed to scramble out in time.
Everyone was safe and sound.
They set to work carrying logs and sawing planks to build a new little house.
